Dear Friends,

Greetings! It’s hard to believe that we are in the States; sometimes we feel disoriented. The other day while driving home, Steve turned to me and said: “Sometimes I feel like I have to pinch myself to see if we are really the States or if this is a dream.” Of course we both are glad to be here to share the great things that God is doing in Côte d’Ivoire. But do you mind me saying that there are things we miss from our country?

What do I miss about Africa? Well, I miss so many who are like children to us – Agnes and Bertin; Emmanuel and his family; and Sophia to name a few. I miss teaching the women at church and hugging the children. Steve misses teaching at the Bible Institute and working with our graduates in their church ministries. We miss fresh mangos, papaya, and pineapple for breakfast and peanut butter sauce on rice for lunch (MMMmmmm). I miss the warm weather and the afternoon walks on the beach maybe once every three weeks. As you are reading this, are you tempted to come and visit us sometime? Maybe you can help out in one of the many ministry possibilities? That would be nice; just wait until 2011.

Our ministry in the States for this year has already been a blessing. We enjoyed a special time at Swissvale Baptist in Pittsburg and enjoyed the fellowship with everyone. We were astonished when Hope Baptist Church in Hanover gave us a welcome home and birthday party two weeks ago. What a surprise it was to receive so many cards and gifts from them and others! Two weeks ago, we were at our home office in Cleveland where the AV staff helped us put together a DVD presentation. Everyone there was so helpful to us. Last week we enjoyed a mission’s conference at Fellowship Baptist in Ferndale, MD. With all the good preaching, good food, and good fellowship with friends and missionaries over the past few weeks, I think I am beginning to forget the taste of mangos and sound of the ocean. (Well, maybe a little….)

We are so grateful to you for the prayers for us and the ministry. We do appreciate so much your kindness to us and to them. We will be looking forward to the time when we can get together with you to share what God has been doing.

Please pray for us as we travel in the States. Please continue to pray for the ministry in Côte d’Ivoire. Steve was able to teach the Bible School students for an hour through the Internet on SKYPE a couple of weeks ago. The students were able to see him and they all could interact back and forth. New technology is amazing sometimes!

Partners together with you,

Steve and Gayle
