June 2008 Prayer Letter

Pastors in the northwest.jpg

Steve and Emmanuel travel to Blahou and Blolequin

Sunday, June 22, 2008

Hi! This is Gayle, and I want to write an update on Steve.

Today, after church, Steve left for a trip with Emmanuel, the Ivorian who is training with Steve in the Bible Institute. The first stop on their trip is a small village called Blahou, just north of San-Pedro. This new church plant is being led by Paul, one of our Bible Institute students. Paul will be encouraged to see his two professors there.

Then Steve and Emmanuel will be traveling to Blolequin, a small town northwest from here. The traveling time will be about 5 hours. Here they will meet with our pastors who live in that region (around 13), along with some of the church leaders. (The men are pictured here.) One goal of the trip is to make plans together for a seminar we will be hosting there in August. Another goal is for fellowship together. Steve’s desire to encourage these Christian brothers reminds me of Barnabas. (Acts 14:21, 22).

Since Emmanuel’s family lives in a village not far from there, they plan to stop on their return trip on Wednesday or Thursday. Emmanuel said that he wanted his family to meet his “spiritual father.” Our prayer is that God will open the opportunity for His Word to be shared.

Please pray for their safety as they travel. There are many police stops along the way where trying to get money is the favorite past time. Also pray for safety during their stay. We have not traveled to that region since the rebels were there when the war broke out in 2002. Things have been calm for some time now. Our prayer is that it stays that way.

Pray for me, too, as I stay home and try to finish the paperwork from classes, etc. I know that I will keep busy, but I miss Steve already!

Thanks for your partnership.

Gayle
