Dear Friends,
It is amazing how fast time goes!
It seems like yesterday we arrived in America, and already so much has taken place. We are thankful for Bill and Lonnie at BMM, who did a great job helping us put together our ministry DVD, and for Nancy who put together our prayer card. We have enjoyed visiting some churches and seeing many friends. Steve is still working on finishing our schedule for meetings, so if you haven’t heard from us yet, you most likely will soon! Someone recently asked me what changes I have noticed here in America. I suppose the thing that amazes me the most are the choices we have. It takes so much longer for me to buy something, especially since there are many selections to choose from here. Now why is it that Steve doesn’t seem to have as much trouble as I do?
Another change has been the newer technology with phones, internet, etc. This has permitted us to change the way we communicate with pastors and churches in the Ivory Coast. Through “SKYPE” on our computer using a web cam, Steve was able to teach a one-hour class to all of the Bible Institute students. No more expensive phone bills!
This weekend we are traveling to Alexandria, VA, for a mission’s conference with our friends at Calvary Baptist. I am speaking Saturday at a Mother-Daughter dinner and Steve will be with the men. After the conference, we will be traveling to Tunkhannock, Pa. to visit churches in that area.
I am looking forward to being with my mom, Valerie Stoughton, for Mother’s Day. Please pray for her as she is in the beginning stages of dementia, and for Charlene and Sheldon who take care of her. We both are so thankful for the parents God gave us!
I want to thank God also for my husband. Not only has he been a good friend and godly husband, but I have enjoyed working with him in the ministry these 28 years. Over the past 19 years, he has been working on his master’s degree to better equip him for our institute ministry in Africa. He has taken one or two courses every four years during our furlough. On Friday, May 7th Steve will be graduating! Praise the Lord! Today we talked to Emmanuel about the class he is now teaching in the Bible Institute in Côte d’Ivoire. When he heard about Steve’s graduation, he laughed and said, “Félicitations, Papa!” (Congratulations, Papa!).
We thank you so much for your prayers!
Steve and Gayle
