Institut Théologique Baptiste

We began the Baptist Theological Institute in 1999. See "ITB"

  Developing Leadership for the Institute
Pastor GUEU, Emmanuel - ITB San-Pédro
Emmanuel graduated from “ITB”, in 2005 and continues to develop his teaching and leadership skills alongside of Steve. He is a godly man who values correct teaching of truth from God's Word. He is a good teacher and has the respect of all the students. Emmanuel not only teaches but is involved in all the administrative and daily demands of the institute.

Emmanuel’s wife, Eunice, loves the Lord, too. She has learned to read and desires to teach other women God's Word. Their children’s names are Romaric (16), Aristide (11), Josué (9), Grâce (7), and Esther (5). You can read about Emmanuel’s testimony in "Lives Changed by Christ".

Another aspect of leadership development -
We have for years been developing a board of directors. We believe the development of this board is the key to the future of the institute. Transferring to national leadership our vision, goals, principles of work/ministry can’t be done in a short period. The partnership we now share with these godly individuals in decision making, problem solving, ministry development, and sustainability will be a standard on which they will base the future of the institute. Our goal is for Emmanuel and other board members to continue the ministry of training other believers long after we are off the scene. This area of leadership development demands understanding of the biblical basis of ministry and future goals. We know there is no time to waste for this important step because we could be taken off the scene at any time due to unplanned events such as health emergencies or political issues. Pray with us!

  Local Missionary Expansion

Pastor TOUGNON, Bertin - in DIVO
Bertin is another graduate of the Bible Institute involved in ministry. Bertin and his wife Agnes were called to be missionaries the town of Divo. This new church plant has been growing as they are evangelizing and discipling new believers. We enjoy traveling to be with them in their evangelism outreaches and encouraging them by phone when we are not there. God is blessing their ministry as they seek to reach their neighbors and town for Christ.

WOULD YOU HELP ENCOURAGE THIS NEW CHURCH?

With growth and advancement into Satan’s stronghold come trials. The church has been meeting in a local public school, having received the permission by the school administrator. Now, the neighbors do not want the church there and the school administrator asked them to leave. They have been seeking the Lord for the next meeting place.

They have found a half acre lot with the concrete foundation and walls of an unfinished house for $7,000. It is in an excellent location in a residential area only 20 yards from a main road. They have received just under $1200.00. The church informed the owner they have cash in hand as a down payment. Please pray with us that God will supply the remaining funds needed to purchase this property. If God would lead you to help encourage this new church with a gift, you may send that to BMM: Note - Steve and Gayle King – construction (Divo). Click for Support information.

Read about our June 7th trip to Divo under "Events". You can also see a picture from 8/31/08 when we visited the church group in Divo by going to "Pictures". It is the last picture.

  Our Church Planting Ministry
1st - Église Baptiste de la Grâce – San-Pédro
Grace Baptist Church, the first church plant that began in our home, is now indigenous. GBEHE, T. Lazare and his wife Marie are ministering there as pastor and wife. Lazare was trained by his father, a pastor in a town called Guiglo, and continued taking courses at the Institute. Marie graduated from our Bible Institute in San-Pedro in 1995. There are excellent church leaders in this congregation who desire to reach others in the community.

Please continue to pray for this church as they solve the problem of others who have tried to take the church property not yet developed by the church. A picture of the church building can be seen under “Pictures”.

2nd - Église Baptiste Appel et Mission – San-Pédro
KONÉ, James graduated from the Bible Institute in 2005. We are working with James and his wife, Celestine, in our 2nd church plant. The church is meeting in the middle of a Muslim community. Although at first there were mostly children and teens, little by little we are seeing adults interested in the Word of God and coming to understand the work of Jesus Christ. (In the picture, James is serving communion.)

On Mothers' Day, there were 60 adults and 86 children. On Father's Day, we offered coffee and bread to all of the fathers. Many came and heard God's Word. Each father was given a New Testament Bible with the plan of salvation written inside.
