Praise and Thanksgiving!

Dear Friends,

We give praise to God for all that He has done. "That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works."  Psalms 26:7
This month, we would like to show you some pictures of recent events in the ministry.

Baptism in Divo

We enjoyed going to Divo, especially since it had been one year since Bertin and Agnes Tognon began the new mission work there.  On Saturday evening we showed an Evangelistic film in an open-air meeting.  Thirty-four people responded to the Gospel that evening and 8 attended the Sunday morning service the next day. After the morning service, we all went to another place for a baptism.  What a joy it was that Rodrigue and Anderson were baptized!  Praise God for this mission church!

 Opportunities

Please pray for two ladies, Sonia and Odea.  After inviting them to church, Sonia (to the left) expressed her desire to study God's Word. When we took her a bible study booklet, we learned that she had relocated Abidjan, the capital.  She has called Gayle since that time and we are praying that God will continue to work in her life.

Seminar

As you know, we have been praying for many years to have a small business which will allow the Bible Institute ministry to have income to help keep it running for years to come.  The time has finally arrived!  We shared with you about the coming of Joanne Sopt to help us get this together.  (Look at the Business Center section on the ITB page).  But before we began this small business, it was our desire that those involved in this ministry understand the biblical principles for finances.

We praise God that Joanne was able to attend a seminar by Crown Financial Ministries called Crown Ignite before she came to Africa. Crown Ignite is specifically geared towards providing teaching materials in an international context to encourage sustainability. Crown believes that sustainability can be reached by encouraging people to apply Biblical principles to their businesses, their church ministries, and their individual lives. The vision of Crown fits perfectly with the goals of the small business.

We met with our 4th year Bible Institute students and a few others closely involved in the ministry. Our time together included teaching, discussing several issues, and eating together. The teaching time in particular was very enriching. Joanne taught on subjects such as “Our Purpose in Business” and “Finances”.. Steve taught subjects such as, “Ownership” and “Integrity”.

The subject of money is a worldwide language that everyone understands. All those who attended, from the lady who sells produce in the market to the teacher at the Bible Institute, provided insightful comments. In an African culture, applying Biblical principles to money matters does not always seem like the most logical option; however, the Word of God is very direct that we are not to follow the world’s standards. When we are commanded to glorify God is everything that we do, including the area of how to manage a business, certain Bible verses shed new meaning on how to live the Christian life. It was a wonderful learning experience for both those teaching and those participating. We thank God for this time that we had together!

Grand Opening of the Bible Institute Center:

We praise God that the ITB Center is up and running!  See "Events" for November.

Thank you so much for your prayers for us and for the ministry here. We do appreciate it so much!

May God Bless you!
