November 2009

Greetings from the Ivory Coast, West Africa!

YES, God has been wonderful!!

On Thanksgiving as we took time off to thank God, there were several things that came quickly to mind.

1)   We thank God for health, protection, provision, and contentment as we are seeing 2009 come to a close.

2)   There are so many good things happening at the church: the salvation of souls almost every week; a great spirit among those coming to each service; babies born to members’ families; the desire of people to know and obey the Word; and steps taken to see this church become organized. As a result of encouraging a faithful lady in the church to have her marriage authorized by the village families, her husband accepted Christ.  While in the village, Natalie's Muslim father was happy that this marriage was encouraged by the church, and now he desires a church in his village (about 300 miles from us).

3)   The students at the Bible Institute are courageous and working hard. There are days  when I can see they are exhausted and struggling financially, yet they want to be prepared for service.

4)   We thank God for you, our prayer partners and supporters, who care about us and are concerned about our ministry.  When Gayle had the accident in September, many of you wrote with your well wishes for her and concern about our car.  (By the way, we don’t have that back from Abidjan).  Thank you for your prayers!

5)   Even though the US dollar has been the weakest in our missionary career, God has met our personal financial needs this term because people and churches have been convinced by God to give to our personal support.

For all these blessings and many others, we are “Being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causes through us thanksgiving to God.” 2 Cor. 9:11

YES – God has been wonderful!!

Our term here is winding down, and it is our goal to see certain things advance before we get on the plane at the end of February 2010.  One of our supporters recently asked us to present different financial concerns for the ministry here on our website to give ideas of ways people can help. Sometimes we hesitate talking about finances, knowing there are churches and individuals struggling financially in the US. On the other hand, we have people who say to us, "How can we pray and contribute if you don't tell us?"

Please take a moment to click on this link to our ministry website www.steveandgayleking.com and follow the Special Gifts link to Gifts That Show the Love of Christ for Africans: http://steveandgayleking.com/gpage2.html  We have listed 7 Special Gifts projects. Please look at these ministry needs.  We ask you to pray because we are aware that sometimes people want to give a gift to close out the year. There are needs mentioned - large and small, personal and church wide, church planting and Institute, spiritual and social. All of these have a role in the advancement of the Gospel and the edification of the faithful men and women with whom we work. If God should lead you to give a gift, the year 2009 will close out with even more thanksgivings to God with great joy.  We will keep you posted about the progress on these projects.

Together, we can see great things accomplished for the glory God.
