Dec 2010

Dear Praying Friends,

For years we have asked you  to pray for the political stability in Cote d'Ivoire (the Ivory Coast).  You may  remember that a coup took place in September 2002 and that we were evacuated for  three months from November 2004 to January 2005. Our request has intensified as  we have been in many of the churches.  In  our last few e-mail prayer letters we have asked you to pray for the  presidential elections in this country where we  serve.

The latest  -
The final presidential election took place on Sunday, November 28, 2010.  It has been a disputed election with both the incumbent Laurent Gbagbo (from the youth) claiming victory and the challenger, Alassane Ouattara (a Muslim from the north) claiming victory and both setting up their governments. The UN and much of the international community has stood with Mr.Ouattara and the local government has stood with the incumbent President Gbagbo. The two candidates are now at an impasse.  The reports gave Mr. Ouattara the majority vote, but the government annulled the votes from several northern regions (the stronghold of Mr. Ouattara) claiming voter intimidation at a number of the polling stations. Neither candidate is willing to admit defeat. This election was to bring the country together after eight years of political instability and reestablish its national unity.  But, this impasse has divided the country and could lead the peace process backwards.

I have been on the phone this week with many of our Ivorian co-laborers and Pastors asking about the
state of things there in San Pedro, Divo, and around the country. They all reported that things are calm. But, the America Embassy is concerned about what may follow. It is evident that the Pastors and Christians are trusting God during these uncertain times. They know God is sovereign and He will bring about His will in this entire situation.    PRAY FOR THE OUTCOME.

ON ANOTHER NOTE, if you would want to review our ministry video or share it with anyone, here is the link to our web page:  www.steveandgayleking.com/Videos.html
Just click on the play tab displayed where you  see the red home. (Note: when you hear french speakers, just read! We had to summarize the English subtitles.) Also, this is our website so anyone can get to know us through this.

Thank you for your
prayer support,
